Name: Ranmaru Gender: Male Animal: White Tiger Age: "16" (like 3-4 years old, literally, as a tiger) Height: 175cm / 5'9" (though he wears 1˝" heeled boots in his circus act to hide his four-toed feet) Faction: Yatsudoki Circus Job: juggling (fire, knives, etc.) in his "human" form, but also performs as a tiger in a different act
Personality: grouchy | violent | short-tempered | loyal | socially retarded | physical | dim-witted | competitive | rowdy Ranmaru is quick to start a fight, and loves to threaten/bully others and complain despite that he doesn't have any smarts to back him up most of the time. His bad attitude is mostly for show; he often picks fights (or threatens to) with his friends yet is also the first person to stick up for them if someone else is badmouthing them while they're not around. He doesn't have many friends, since he fights 90% of the other animals he meets, but he's fiercely loyal to the ones he does have, even if he's poor at showing it. He's what you might call a "tsundere". Though he verbally assaults pretty much anyone, he only picks physical fights with animals who he judges to be his "skill level" or stronger, so he tends to be on the losing end of most fights. He doesn't mind it since it makes him stronger, and he refuses to pick on the weak (though he'll still barrage them with insults and threaten to kill them out of habit, oops). It's pretty easy to set him off, too; honestly even if you're nice to him he'll probably snap at you. Specific triggers include unwarranted touching, or condescension. If you comment on his age or his baby face he'll (threaten to) rip you to pieces. (As Bengal Tigers generally reach adulthood around the age of 4 or 5, he hasn't quite matured yet, meaning he has a long, lean body but still the face of a younger boy--it's something he's very sensitive about.) Despite being Lune's first animal companion he still can be pretty slow at adapting to the "humanoid" life, retaining many of his animal characteristics such as grooming/licking himself (and others, on a rare occasion), biting, and sometimes pouncing on people/things when he gets too excited (which is pretty much always the case). Despite this he's hypocritically impatient towards others who seem to adapt more slowly to "human"/circus life. He seems to always be complaining about his work, slacking off and taking breaks, but when no one seems to be looking he's actually one of the hardest workers.
food (specifically meat, fish, milk)
napping during the day
humans (with the exception of one)
Power(s): Naturally he has "tiger-like" abilities, that is, great physical strength, speed, and a fearsome roar. He's primarily a physical fighter, and he is definitely strong and fast (and can be intimidating at times), but he's not ~the most powerful tiger ever~ or anything close to that. In tiger years he's barely an adult, reaching his full size but not yet his full strength. It's also worth mentioning that he's a poor tactician and completely inept when it comes to any other mode of battle besides close range physical combat. His special item/"weapon" is his tiger-tooth necklace, a memento of the other tigers he'd defeated and asserted his dominance over growing up in India. Wearing this necklace is what gives him his enhanced strength and speed so it's considered his "weapon" in that way, but he uses his fists and claws, specifically, to fight.
Biography: Ranmaru was born and raised in India in the wild and as a result he harbored a natural distrust for humans, having seen many of his family members hunted or captured in the past. Ranmaru himself was captured at the age of 3 by Japanese tradesmen, Japan possessing one of the biggest markets for endangered tiger parts, which is how he received his name "Ranmaru". Unexpectedly, he was bought out from the Japanese traders by Lune's family who happened to be involved in the fur trade and admired his exceptionally beautiful fur. While in captivity he met Lune, who, as his first good deed towards animals, set Ranmaru free. Ranmaru, confused and afraid, nearly would have killed Lune if Lune hadn't been turned part-animal himself. Over time he slowly began to trust Lune who taught him about the human world, and showed him that not all humans were evil. Ranmaru agreed to become Yatsudoki Circus' first member under Lune's leadership in order help him break free of his curse.
Lune: his boss, but first and foremost his best friend (even though you'll never catch him admitting something like that. ever.)
